Ronaldo Fênomeno e Ronaldinho Gaúcho, campeões da Copa do Mundo de 2002

A ESPN norte-americana divulgou uma lista com os 100 maiores atletas do século 21. Na eleição dos jornalistas estrangeiros, três atletas brasileiros apareceram na lista: Marta, Ronaldo e Ronaldinho Gaúcho. O ex-nadador Michael Phelps foi eleito o maior atleta do século.
A brasileira foi a 32ª colocada na lista e, entre os nascidos no Brasil, tem o melhor posto. O ranking leva em consideração os feitos realizados a partir de 2001.
Marta foi eleita seis vezes melhor jogadora do mundo. Além disso, a camisa 10 soma duas pratas olímpicas (Atenas 2004 e Pequim 2008), dois ouros Pan-Americanos (Santo Domingo 2003 e Rio 2007) e inúmeros títulos de clubes.
O atacante Ronaldo é o 87º na lista. O ex-Cruzeiro foi eleito melhor jogador do mundo em 2002, além de conquistar a Copa do Mundo com o Brasil, sendo artilheiro da competição.
Ronaldinho Gaúcho, ex-Atlético, compartilhou o mesmo título pela Seleção com o Fenômeno. O histórico camisa 10, que ficou com a 94ª posição, foi eleito duas vezes melhor do mundo, ganhou Copa América, Copa das Confederações e UEFA Champions League.
